Some handy tips to protect the pipes, pumps and sewer at your property:

• Use a sink strainer to prevent food scraps and other household waste from going down the drain
• Pour kitchen fats and oils into a container and place it in the bin
• Wipe greasy pots and pans with a paper towel before washing
• Use less detergent and choose one with a low salt content
• Try to place ‘flushable’ wipes in the bin, not in the toilet, as they can build up in the sewer, pipes and pumps.
